The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Monday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Ibrahim Ida Takes Over CAC Leadership
According to the presidency, Senator Ibrahim Ida, a former representative of Katsina Central Senatorial District, will now head the Corporate Affairs Commission, the agency responsible for regulating and supervising company registration and business operations in Nigeria.
Ida brings a wealth of administrative and public service experience to the role. He holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan and a Law degree from the University of Abuja.
Before this appointment, he had served in several strategic positions, including:
Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State
Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service
Senator representing Katsina Central
His appointment is seen as part of the Tinubu administration’s effort to strengthen institutions responsible for Nigeria’s corporate governance and business environment.
Seven Nominated for National Population Commission
In the same development, President Tinubu forwarded the names of seven nominees to fill vacant commissioner positions at the National Population Commission (NPC).
The nominees, who are expected to undergo confirmation by the National Assembly, are:

Usman Abubakar Tuggar – Bauchi State
Dr Isaka Alada Yahaya – Kwara State

The appointments come at a crucial time for the commission, which plays a central role in population data management, demographic planning, and national census coordination.
Yusuf Mohammed Named Federal Polytechnic Kaltungo Chairman
President Tinubu also approved the appointment of Dr Yusuf Mohammed as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo.
While the presidency did not provide extensive details on his mandate, the appointment is part of ongoing efforts to reposition federal tertiary institutions for improved governance and academic administration.
Bala Mohammed Bello Confirmed as Special Adviser
In another key appointment, the president confirmed Bala Mohammed Bello as Special Adviser on Political Economy.
Bello, an indigene of Taraba State, is regarded as a seasoned technocrat with strong experience in finance, economic policy, and public sector administration.
He holds degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and has held several top-level roles, including:
Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)
Executive Director (Corporate Services), Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) from 2017 to 2022
His appointment is expected to bolster the administration’s economic advisory structure, especially at a time when the government is pushing reforms aimed at stabilising the economy and improving investor confidence.
Presidency Speaks on Appointments
The presidency said the appointments underscore President Tinubu’s confidence in the competence and experience of the appointees.
According to the statement, the administration expects the new officials to contribute meaningfully to good governance, institutional efficiency, and economic management.
However, the presidency noted that the appointments of the NPC nominees will only take full effect after they are screened and confirmed by the National Assembly.
PressNGR Note
The latest appointments are part of President Tinubu’s broader move to fill strategic vacancies across federal agencies and institutions, amid growing public scrutiny over governance, economic reforms, and political balancing across states and regions.
With agencies like the CAC and NPC playing critical roles in business regulation and national data planning, the effectiveness of the new appointees will likely come under close watch in the coming months.
