The decision by the Kwankwasiyya Movement to direct its members into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) may signal a major political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The movement announced on Saturday that its national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is set to officially leave the NNPP and register with the ADC on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Kano.
The announcement, made by the movement’s spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, confirms growing speculation that Kwankwaso may align with a broader coalition seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
Political observers believe the move could strengthen opposition calculations, especially in the North, where Kwankwaso remains one of the most influential political figures.
By directing members nationwide to also join the ADC, the Kwankwasiyya Movement appears to be preparing for a more structured political battle ahead of the next election cycle.
If successfully executed, the move could reshape alliances and redefine the strength of opposition politics in Nigeria.
