APC Chieftain Segun Ajibulu Declares for Ekiti North Senate, Endorses Oyebanji, Tinubu

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Segun Ajibulu, has officially declared his intention to contest the Ekiti North Senatorial seat, while also throwing his weight behind the second-term aspirations of Governor Biodun Oyebanji and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ajibulu, in a statement made available to PressNGR, said his decision to join the senatorial race was driven by his desire to bring his professional expertise and leadership experience to bear in legislative service.
He explained that his focus, if elected, would be on economic policy reforms, fiscal discipline, and constituency-based development aimed at improving the lives of people in Ekiti North.
According to him, his consultations with party stakeholders across the district reinforced his conviction that the time has come to deepen quality representation and contribute meaningfully to policy-making at the National Assembly.
Backs Oyebanji’s Second Term
Ajibulu used the opportunity to express strong support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, describing his administration as focused, inclusive, and development-driven.
He said the governor’s leadership style and achievements across strategic sectors of the state have created a solid foundation that should be sustained through continuity in governance.
According to Ajibulu, the governor’s re-election deserves the backing of party members and the people of Ekiti, especially as several ongoing projects and reforms still require time and stability to deliver their full benefits.
He urged APC faithful and residents of the state to rally behind Oyebanji, noting that policy consistency remains crucial to preserving and expanding the gains already recorded.
Tinubu’s Reforms Need Time — Ajibulu
At the national level, the APC chieftain also endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda, describing the current administration’s economic policies as necessary and strategic steps toward long-term national recovery and stability.
Ajibulu acknowledged that some of the reforms may have brought short-term difficulties for Nigerians, but insisted that such policies are essential to addressing long-standing structural problems in the economy.
He maintained that the President should be given more time to consolidate ongoing reforms and ensure they mature into measurable gains for citizens across the country.
According to him, granting Tinubu another term would help sustain the momentum of critical interventions already underway in key sectors of the economy.
Legislative Agenda for Ekiti North
Ajibulu said his legislative ambition is aligned with the broader reform-driven agenda of both the Ekiti State Government and the Federal Government.
He stated that, if elected to the Senate, he would prioritise policies and programmes capable of:
. Attracting investment to Ekiti North
. Stimulating job creation
. Promoting youth empowerment
. Improving social welfare
. Expanding economic opportunities for constituents
He stressed that his ambition goes beyond politics, adding that it is rooted in a long-standing desire to deliver practical and impactful representation for the people of the district.
Longstanding Political and Community Engagement
Ajibulu is not a new face in Ekiti North politics.
He had previously indicated interest in the senatorial seat ahead of the 2023 general elections, where he positioned himself as a candidate committed to employment generation, youth development, and people-centred representation.
Beyond partisan politics, he is also recognised as a key figure within the South-West Professionals network, where he has been involved in mobilising support for economic and developmental initiatives targeted at improving livelihoods in Ekiti communities.
He has also played visible roles in diaspora-based advocacy for Ekiti development, particularly in efforts geared toward reducing poverty and unemployment in the senatorial district.
Traditional Recognition
Ajibulu’s grassroots involvement and support for youth-focused initiatives have also earned him traditional honour.
He holds the chieftaincy title of Aare Bobatolu of Esun-Ekiti, conferred in recognition of his contributions to community development and youth empowerment.
His supporters often point to this recognition as evidence of his longstanding connection with the grassroots and his commitment to social impact beyond politics.
Political Activities Gather Momentum
With political activities gradually gaining momentum ahead of the next election cycle, Ajibulu’s declaration is expected to add to the growing contest for the Ekiti North Senatorial District seat.
Observers believe his entry into the race may shape early conversations within the APC, particularly as internal alignments begin to form around both legislative ambitions and the broader battle for political influence in the state.
For now, Ajibulu appears determined to position himself as a serious contender, while also using his declaration to reaffirm loyalty to both the Oyebanji administration in Ekiti and President Tinubu’s leadership at the centre.
