‎KOGI POLY RECTOR APPOINTS DR. SHUAIBU ABDULKARIM MAHMUD AS AG. DIRECTOR, ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CENTRE‎

‎…Charges Groundbreaking Innovation

‎The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Prof. Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has approved the appointment of Dr. Shuaibu Abdulkarim Mahmud as the Acting Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC).

‎The appointment, which took effect on Friday, 27th March 2026, followed a comprehensive inspection of the Centre and its facilities conducted by the Rector on Thursday, 26th March 2026. The formal announcement, however, was briefly delayed on the instruction of the Rector as a mark of profound respect for a departed Academic Staff from the School of Management Studies, whose sudden passing occurred a day prior to the appointment.

‎Dr. Mahmud, a Principal Lecturer in the Department of Business Administration, holds a Ph.D in Entrepreneurship and Business Studies from the University of Technology, Minna (2023). His academic grounding, coupled with his professional orientation in entrepreneurship, positions him as a fitting choice to drive the Polytechnic’s vision of innovation, self-reliance, and enterprise development among students.

‎His appointment is therefore not only timely but also strategic, given the increasing importance of entrepreneurial education and practicals in today’s dynamic economic landscape.

‎Charging the new Acting Director to bring forth groundbreaking ideas and practical innovations, the Rector emphasized the need to reposition the Centre as a hub for greater creativity, skill acquisition, and sustainable enterprise. He expressed confidence in Dr. Mahmud’s capacity to translate his scholarly expertise into impactful programmes that will empower students and enhance the institution’s relevance in national development.

‎This appointment further underscores the deliberate administrative philosophy of Prof. Avidime, reflecting a commitment to placing square pegs in square holes. By aligning competence with responsibility, the Rector continues to demonstrate a purposeful leadership style anchored on merit, capacity, and the pursuit of excellence.
