PressNGR – Ozovehe Shehu, a distinguished chemical pathologist, has been appointed as the new Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja (FTHL).
The appointment was confirmed by the Ebira Doctors’ Forum (EDF) in a statement signed by its Secretary, Moses Shaibu, on Monday. The association commended the federal government for selecting one of its members to lead the tertiary health institution.
EDF extended congratulations to Mr. Shehu, expressing confidence in his ability to transform the hospital through visionary leadership, dedication to service, and advocacy for staff welfare. The group also prayed for wisdom, health, and guidance for the new CMD and pledged full support to ensure a lasting legacy under his tenure.
Mr. Shehu brings extensive experience to his new role. He previously served as President of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital (ABUTH), Zaria, and held key positions in the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), including Secretary and Chairman in Kaduna State, Chairman of the NMA Committee on Remuneration and Welfare, and as a board member of the association. Until his appointment at FTHL, he was Secretary of the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics.
He succeeds Ojochide Ebune, who had been serving as acting CMD.
With Mr. Shehu at the helm, stakeholders anticipate renewed focus on healthcare delivery, staff welfare, and institutional development at Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.
