2027: Kogi Works Commissioner, Muhammed Ahovi Yusuf, Resigns Over ‘Personal Reasons’

PRESSNGR reports that the Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Hon. Muhammed Ahovi Yusuf, has resigned from his position in the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Ahovi Yusuf announced his resignation in a letter dated March 31, 2026, which he also shared on his Facebook page.
In the letter, the former commissioner stated that his decision was not made lightly, noting that it had become necessary as he moves on to the next phase of his personal and professional journey.
While he did not publicly declare any political ambition in the resignation letter, political observers in Kogi State believe his exit may not be unconnected to preparations for the 2027 general elections.
There are growing indications that Ahovi Yusuf may be positioning himself to contest for the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
His resignation is also being linked to the need to comply with electoral guidelines, which require certain political appointees to step down before seeking elective office.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kogi State Government has yet to issue an official statement regarding his resignation or announce a replacement.
Ahovi Yusuf served as Commissioner for Works under Governor Ododo and was considered one of the key figures in the state’s infrastructure and public works administration.
